STAY on the TRAIL......

"But there's no snow yet, none at all," she stated.
"That's why these signs go out now," I said, and added,
"It will be too late when that first snow starts to fall."
"Doesn't the arrow's direction confuse some people," she asked.
"Only the dumb ones who shouldn't be there," I replied.

Beatrice's Hat.....

"Poster motivation never worked for me," she started.
"This one's all about that hat.   The taupe one.  Beatrice's," I added.
"What color is taupe anyway?" she asked.
"It's kind of like tan, only greener," I said.
"No, silly, it's a european mole," she stated.
"Like 'Taupe d'europe' or 'Talpa europaea'," she confirmed.

BRRR BLUR.....

"It's really cold outside" she said.
"And it's going to get colder," I added.
"Too cold to string holiday lights" she asked.
"Never too cold for that," I replied.
"I thought I had this great idea, but then it
was gone, in a flash...just gone" I said.
"What was that you said," she asked.
Too late, I had already forgotten.

Shhhhh Happens.....

"Did you just shush me?" she asked.
I knew then I had crossed the line.
Time to turn and run, I thought.
Run, and run fast.  Yet I didn't move.
"Yes, I did," I replied.
"Don't you ever shush me. Never." she said,
as her hand swung towards my face.  Smack!
And it hurt.

FULL METAL FROG..........

Her face was aglow with that look of disbelief.
I insisted, "I'm sure it moved, it must have."
She said nothing.
"If you take your eyes off it, it moves", I said.
"And I mean fast, like quantum locked fast."
"Like in the blink of an eye," she smiled.
I replied, "Faster than that, I think"
We blinked, and the frog was gone.

The SILENT H..........

Ellie sat on the other side of the kitchen table, her arms crossed tightly.
I began again, "Ell, there are many words with silent H's.  Let me give you
an example.   Your name, for instance.   Those times when you're angry,
nasty-kitty like, people refer to you as ......"    I didn't finish the sentence.
She had risen out of her seat and now her right hand was grabbing the chair's
back and lifting it up with the obvious intent to toss it over the table towards me.
But I was already in motion, out through the doorway, yelling that other well-known
silent H word, "elp, elp, elp, elp ...."

SNOWLINE......

"No," she said, "no further mention of snow."
"I'm not listening," she continued. "If it has the S-word,
I just don't want to hear it, not when Spring's here."
"But this is about choices, confusing choices," I countered,
"And how to decide the best course of action."
"Heh," she was quick to respond, "If it has snow in it,
then the best choice is simply the opposite direction."
